As a native Texan raised in southwest Fort Worth, Dr. Jared Williams has dedicated his life's work to listening, learning and fighting alongside communities to ensure that opportunities reach more families across the District, City and State.
Jared was raised by working parents who served more than 40 combined years as public school teachers in District 6. His mother, Adrian, retired as a second-grade teacher from Poynter Elementary, and his father, Joseph, retired as a English teacher from South Hills High School. Early on, his parents taught him and his brother the value of working hard and helping others.
After graduating from North Crowley High School, Jared went on to earn his doctorate in environmental science & science education from the University of North Texas. He worked alongside local residents and families as a graduate student to create local solutions on issues such as water conservation, smarter waste management and sustainable urban infrastructure.
Once he finished school, Jared returned to serve in the District that he calls home. Since then, he has continued to organize neighbors on important local and state issues. Jared has partnered with Fort Worth communities to ensure better career options for marginalized communities, affordable housing solutions for vulnerable neighbors and excellent and equitable public schools for families. Dr. Williams brings a people-first approach to leadership, a proven equity lens when making decisions and a deep passion for serving the community that raised him. He will work tirelessly to ensure that our families experience the very best in Fort Worth.
On June 5th, 2021, Dr. Jared Williams, was elected the first African American to represent District 6 and one of the youngest Councilmembers ever in the history of Fort Worth.
